Wilmington University’s flexible and affordable DNP degree program prepares advanced practice nurses and nurse leaders with integrated clinical and leadership skills necessary for advanced nursing practice. Courses examine the relationships among health policy, informatics, population health and business practices in the care of individuals, families and communities.

Many Paths to Reach Your Goal

This is not a one-size-fits-all program. In addition to the Traditional DNP pathway (with a choice of Advanced Practice or Leadership), we also offer an accelerated MSN to DNP pathway, a combined DNP with MBA in Health Care Administration, a PhD to DNP pathway, and a combined post-master's Nurse Practitioner certificate and DNP degree in two specialties (Family and Psychiatric Mental Health).


The Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Wilmington University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.


Cohorts begin three times per year in the Spring, Summer, and Fall.

  • Application Deadline for Spring Term Admission: October 1st or until cohort is filled
  • Application Deadline for Summer Term Admission: March 1st or until cohort is filled

1500 hours for advanced practice nurses and 1,000 hours for nurse leaders. 2Advanced Practice nurses take 11 courses which can be completed in either 20 or 28 months. Nurse leaders take 15 courses which can be completed in 28 months.
